Apostille certification for citizens of Chile
Where do I get a birth certificate?
In Chile, you can apply for a birth certificate online using your Rol Único Nacional or request a copy by phone or in person at one of the civil registry offices. A fee of 710 pesos is charged. The document can be issued with an apostille, mention you need one to use your birth certificate in a foreign country. More information is available here.
If you’re already in France, the Consulate General of Chile in Paris can deliver a copy of your birth certificate. You can apply in person (no appointment needed) or by mail. Read the page Certificado de Nacimiento for more information. Note that the birth certificate will be in Spanish, so you will need to have it translated by a sworn translator accredited by the Court of Appeal.
How do I get an apostille for my birth certificate?
The Consulate General of Chile in Paris doesn’t issue apostilles for birth certificates. A certain number of Chilean authorities, including the Servicio de Registro Civil e Identificación, the Ministerio de Educación, the Ministerio de Justicia, the Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores and the Ministerio de Salud can apostille documents.
