Apostille certification for citizens of Australia

Where do I get a copy of my birth certificate?

Communicate with the state or territorial authorities in your place of birth:

How do I get an apostille for my birth certificate?

You can have your birth certificate apostilled in Australia or in France.

In Australia, fill out the application (available on this page) and mail it to the postal address on the form along with the document to be apostilled, processing fees and a self-addressed envelope with sufficient postage. You can also lodge a request in person, by appointment only, at one of the Australian Passport Offices in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Darwin, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth or Sydney. An apostille certification cost $80. To learn more, check out Getting documents legalized in Australia.

Since July 1, 2015, most Australian Embassy consular officers can provide notarial services, including apostille certification on an Australian document. You must provide original documents by mail or in person (by appointment only). Apostille certificate at the Embassy of Australia in France costs €51. For more information, check the Notarial services section of the Embassy of Australia in France.
