1. Mount Royal Lookout<\/h2>\n

Mount Royal is Montreal\u2019s largest park and it\u2019s a must see all year round. It\u2019s the perfect place to take a walk, go for a hike, run, bike, cross-country ski or ice skate.<\/p>\n

The Kondiaronk lookout is the first lookout at the Mount Royal welcome centre and it has stunning views of downtown. It\u2019s an easy 10-minute walk (700 metres) from the parking lot and, of course, entry is free. <\/p>\n

Montreal is home to many, many neighbourhood parks\u2014explore a few and enjoy some fresh air!<\/p>\n

2. Old Montreal<\/h2>\n

You may feel like you\u2019ve been transported to Europe wandering around the narrow, bustling streets of Old Montreal\u2014Saint-Pierre Street, Notre-Dame Basilica, and the Champ-de-Mars subway station are reminiscent of Paris. <\/p>\n

This neighbourhood is also home to Montreal\u2019s Old Port and the famous state-of-the-art \u201cGrande Roue de Montr\u00e9al,\u201d a massive Ferris wheel. <\/p>\n

3. Plateau-Mont-Royal<\/h2>\n

Plateau-Mont-Royal is a hip, lively and oh-so-picturesque neighbourhood with colourful houses and outdoor staircases. In a way, it epitomizes the city.<\/p>\n

4. Jean-Drapeau Park<\/h2>\n

Take a relaxing walk along the St Lawrence River at Jean-Drapeau Park for perfect views of the Island of Montreal. You can also check out the unique Montr\u00e9al Biod\u00f4me and Jacques-Cartier bridge, two of Montreal\u2019s landmarks. <\/p>\n

5. Montreal\u2019s Downtown<\/h2>\n

Many of Montreal\u2019s streets feature amazing visual art\u2014and new masterpieces are added to this open-air gallery every year in June during the MURAL Festival.<\/p>\n

7. Saint-Joseph Oratory<\/h2>\n

This majestic basilica is one of Montreal\u2019s top attractions\u2014not only is it free and the church itself gorgeous, but also offers amazing views of the city.<\/p>\n

8. Museums<\/h2>\n

Several museums offer free entry the first Sunday of every month, including the Museum of Fine Arts, McCord Museum, the Mus\u00e9e d\u2019art contemporain and more. Note that several museums are also free year-round like the Mus\u00e9e de Lachine, the Redpath Museum (donations welcome), La Guilde and the Centre de design de l\u2019UQAM.<\/p>\n

9. Festivals<\/h2>\n

Montreal is a cultural hub with plenty of vibrant festivals year-round, some of which are free.
\nIn winter, check out Montr\u00e9al en lumi\u00e8res for amazing holiday lights and music, circus, song, theatre, and dance performances. <\/p>\n

In summer, you can enjoy some free activities during the Francofolies and the Juste pour rire festivals.<\/p>\n

10. Outdoor activities<\/h2>\n

Go for a walk, a hike or a run in one of Montreal\u2019s public parks. You can also test your ice-skating skills on public rinks in winter, unless you\u2019d rather go sleighing!<\/p>\n
