However, <strong>IEC permit holders already have an eTA number<\/strong> on the first page of the port of entry letter.<\/p>\n<p>So, here are the ways in which you can check the status of your eTA:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>You can check the POE letter issued for your work or study permit.<\/li>\n<li>You can check your IRCC account if you applied for a work or study permit online but never requested your own <a href=\"https:\/\/pvtistes.net\/en\/dossiers\/canada-eta\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">eTA<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>You can check your eTA status online with the Government of Canada tool if you applied for an <a href=\"https:\/\/pvtistes.net\/en\/dossiers\/canada-eta\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">eTA<\/a> before getting a work or study permit or if you\u2019re travelling with a new passport.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\t\t\t<div class=\"c-dossier-article__info\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"c-dossier-article__info-wrap\">\n\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t<div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<strong>New passport = new eTA!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Your eTA is linked to your passport. If you\u2019re travelling with a new passport after your IEC permit was issued, you must apply for a new eTA before your trip.<\/p>\n<p>The eTA on your port of entry letter is no longer valid because it\u2019s linked to your previous passport. The airline will not find a valid eTA under your name and you may be denied boarding.\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\n<h2>Option 1: Check your port of entry letter<\/h2>\n<p>Open your port of entry letter and go to the first page.<\/p>\n<p>Note that you have to download the document from your IRCC account and then <strong>open it on your computer<\/strong>. Simply log in with your GCKey and go to your application details.
