Scope

The Cook / Commis Chef will support the other Chefs as assigned in all areas of the Kitchen.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare, season, and cook food as directed, meeting special dietary instructions as required
  • Follow recipes and presentation specifications
  • Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
  • Clean and maintain assigned station and overall kitchen through practicing good food safety and sanitation
  • Adhere to all sanitation and food production codes


Physical Demands
  • Continuous standing for long periods of time
  • Frequent walking, bending
  • Frequent reaching above and below shoulder height
  • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 22 pounds / 10 kg
  • Occasional lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds / 23 kg
  • Working in a hot, noisy, fast-paced environment


Qualifications
  • Completion of secondary school or equivalent
  • Culinary degree or 1-2 years of work experience in a high volume kitchen environment
  • Able to meet the physical demands of the position
  • High attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
