The Hong Kong’s Working Holiday Scheme is an excellent option for young adults to explore and earn money in Hong Kong. Participants can stay for up to 1 year, during which they can travel around Hong Kong (mainland China is not included) and take on temporary jobs to fund their experiences.
Eligible candidates are young adults between 18 and 30 years old from:
- Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Austria, France, Germany, Hungary, Japan, South Korea, Netherlands, and Sweden.
The effective date of Hong Kong’s agreement with Italy is yet to be announced, at the time of writing.
Applicant eligibility:
- Must hold a valid passport of an eligible country
- Must be within the age limit (inclusive)
- Must be a resident in your country of citizenship
- Not have previously taken part in Hong Kong’s Youth Mobility Scheme
- Must have savings equivalent to at least:
– Australians: HK$20,000
– Canadians: HK$15,000
– Irish: HK$20,000
– New Zealanders: HK$14,000
– Brits: HK$22,000
– Other nationalities
Program description and rules:
- Participants can stay for up to 1 year.
- There are no official language requirements, though your application must be completed primarily in English.
- There are employment limits, varying depending on your nationality:
– Australia: not allowed to work for the same employer for more than 3 months
– Canada: not allowed to work for the same employer for more than 3 months
– Ireland: not allowed to work for the same employer for more than 3 months
– New Zealand: not allowed to work for the same employer for more than 3 months
– United Kingdom: not allowed to work for more than 12 months
– Other nationalities
