How to work in France as a freelancer on a WHV

Start by going to the URSSAF website.

Near the top of the page, select the tab “Créer mon auto-entreprise”.

Since you don’t have a registered entrepreneur status yet, select NON to the question “Êtes-vous déjà immatriculé en tant que travailleur indépendant ?”. Then start your application by clicking on “Je crée mon compte”.

Enter your personal information. You probably don’t have a social security number or a SIRET number, so for both of those check the box “Ce numéro ne m’a pas encore été attribué”.

Confirm your email address and set your password. Then login to the URSSAF portal.

The landing page that you’ll see basically explains that your micro-entreprise isn’t created yet. To continue, you’ll need to go to INPI’s “Guichet unique” portal.
