Chile’s Working Holiday Visa is an excellent option for young adults to explore and earn money in Chile. Participants can stay for up to 1 year, during which they can travel around Chile and take on temporary jobs to fund their experiences.
Eligible candidates are young adults between
- 18 and 35 years old from: Canada, Hungary, New Zealand, and Switzerland.
- 18 and 30 years old from: Australia, Austria, Colombia, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Luxembourg, Mexico, Peru, Poland, Portugal, South Korea, and Sweden.
Applicant eligibility:
- Hold a valid passport of an eligible country
- Be within the age limit (inclusive)
- Not have already been issued a WHV to Chile in the past
- Be in good health and of sound character
- Have enough savings to support yourself initially (varies by nationality, but usually close to the equivalent of US$3,000)
Be sure to check current exchange rates between US dollars and your home currency.
Program description and rules:
- WHV holders can stay for up to 1 year.
- The primary purpose of your trip should be for vacation, not work or studies.
- You may not work for the same employer for longer than 6 months.
- You are only allowed to study or take part in training courses if the course runs for less than 6 months.
- You cannot be accompanied by any dependents.
- Australians only: must demonstrate at least a basic level of Spanish qualified by the Chilean Consulate (source).
