6Approval of your extension
After a few days or weeks, a case officer will be assigned to assess your application. The officer may contact you to ask for additional information to complete your application. However, in most cases, you will receive the approval of your extension right away. Depending on your situation, your extension will be valid for either 3 months from the expiry date of your WHV or 3 months from the date your extension was approved.
Here is what your long-awaited extension will look like!
If you decide to extend your WHV, don’t forget to:
- extend your insurance coverage in order to be covered for your entire WHV.
- convert your driver’s license for a New Zealand driver’s license if you have spent more than 18 months in the country.
- see if you qualify for subsidised healthcare if you have spent more than two years in New Zealand on a work or student visa.
