EnglishAir Transat and pvtistes.net has teamed up for a special offer applicable on flights to and from Canada—an extra 23 kg luggage allowance at no charge.
In other words, Air Transat will carry a piece of checked luggage at no cost. Note that you won’t get a refund on any luggage fees charged, this offer only gives eligible passengers the opportunity to travel with an extra piece of luggage at no additional cost.
Who can benefit from this special offer on Air Transat flights?
To be eligible, passengers must hold one of the following:
- An International Experience Canada (IEC) permit (Working Holiday, Young Professionals or International Co-op permit); or
- A study permit.
- A valid employer-specific work permit.
- A valid spousal work permit.
The immediate relatives of qualifying visa holders (father, mother, siblings) are also eligible for the offer, if they travel together on the same booking.
If you are travelling with your child, you can reserve his or her ticket at the same time as yours. However, he or she would not be eligible for the special offer by Air Transat and pvtistes.net.
This special offer applies to flights from Europe to Canada and flights from Canada to Europe.
It can be used as many times as you wish during the validity of your IEC or study permit.
Choose between two fare options
If you buy an ECO BUDGET ticket (no checked luggage included), this special offer will allow you to add ONE PIECE OF CHECKED LUGGAGE at no extra charge.
Travelling with two pieces of luggage? No worries, you can add a second piece of checked luggage at a later date for a fee and fly with up to two pieces of checked luggage in total (23 kg max each).
If you buy an ECO STANDARD ticket, a piece of checked luggage is already included in the price. This special offer will allow you to add another piece of checked luggage at no extra charge, so you’ll be able to travel with TWO PIECES OF CHECKED LUGGAGE in total (23 kg max each).

The (not so) fine print for the Air Transat offer
- Maximum allowance per passenger is two pieces of checked luggage, 23 kg each. Adding a third piece of luggage is not possible with these fares.
- Maximum weight for each piece of checked luggage is 23 kg. Height + width + length must not exceed 158 cm (62 in).
- Each passenger is entitled to board with one piece of hand luggage and one personal item which are both subject to size restrictions. Maximum dimensions for your carry-on are 23 × 40 × 51 cm (9 × 16 × 20 in). Read Air Transat’s baggage allowance for more details.
- Special items (e.g. sporting equipment, music instruments) are not included in this special offer.
- The offer can’t be applied to transport of pets in the checked baggage hold. However, you can apply it to a regular piece of checked luggage and pay a separate fee to travel with your pet. For more info, read Pets and assistance dogs.
- Seat selection and gourmet meals are available with this special offer.
- Please note that this offer cannot be applied to codeshare flights (where one of the flight segments is operated by another airline partner), to "connectair by Air Transat" flights or to routes involving a train "Train + Air" segment. This offer cannot be combined with any other promotion or promo code.

Contrary to what has been said above, there are individual screens but it all depends on the plane.
The Airbus A330s have them, the A310s don’t! We know how to see which type of aircraft is assigned directly on the air transat website 🙂

I had taken a Paris-Montreal ticket for January 11 !! And I just wanted to tell you that I did have my extra 17kg !! Everything went really well, he was aware of it, despite the fact that I had no supporting documents on these 17kg extra! Here are the friends! And again thank you to Mathieu who reassures a lot before departure !!!

Last point: Air France does not offer a Montreal – Antilles flight while Transat offers a Montreal-Martinique! We don’t forget our compatriots from the West Indies! A friend took advantage of it, and he really enjoyed the direct flight without going through Paris or Miami.
For me the best company between Canada and France. Ok there are no individual screens, but given the price difference and the quality, I always manage to travel with Transat. Also in season they fly directly to secondary cities (Marseille among others – so practical! In 7:30 am boom, you’re at home !!!). It’s simple: with 1 stopover (Paris / Amsterdam / London) when I get home in Marseille I put at least 2pm door to door, the last time 6pm !!! With Transat, 2 times less and a lot less expensive … so … Derinier point: in Paris they leave from Terminal 5 which is the least used. It goes super fast to record or exit. And it’s right next to the Roissy Charles de Gaules TGV station, so it’s also more convenient. I advise everyone.

Just to tell you that our problem is resolved concerning the excess that we had to pay at the airport (not having received a coupon on time and not being on any list at the airport).
We have been reimbursed, a big thank you and have a good trip to all PVTists!
I just booked my flight via airtransat to go to Canada, unfortunately I could not benefit from the 17kg of free luggage because there is a “bug” with the website and it does not allow to benefit from the advantage pvtiste and book insurance for a flight if the return date of the flight exceeds 3 months. So I had to phone the agency to book and they apparently can’t give me the 17kg. Too bad I will probably have to pay 45 euros (X2 round trip of course !!) in addition for an additional baggage of 10kg !!
If someone has had the same problem and they have found a way to benefit from the 17kg, I am interested!
@Jessica alias dagajessica: To add the additional 10 kilos as checked baggage as part of the Option Plus package, the cheapest price is € 80 on a return trip basis. Do not forget that
this package also includes other preferential services!
Staff really very friendly and attentive. I enjoyed traveling on this company and I hope it will be the same the other times when I have the opportunity 🙂
