EnglishAir Transat and pvtistes.net has teamed up for a special offer applicable on flights to and from Canada—an extra 23 kg luggage allowance at no charge.
In other words, Air Transat will carry a piece of checked luggage at no cost. Note that you won’t get a refund on any luggage fees charged, this offer only gives eligible passengers the opportunity to travel with an extra piece of luggage at no additional cost.
Who can benefit from this special offer on Air Transat flights?
To be eligible, passengers must hold one of the following:
- An International Experience Canada (IEC) permit (Working Holiday, Young Professionals or International Co-op permit); or
- A study permit.
- A valid employer-specific work permit.
- A valid spousal work permit.
If you are traveling with your spouse, who does not yet have a work permit, they are also eligible for the offer, provided that they are traveling on the same dates as you and that the tickets are purchased in the same booking. On the day of your trip, make sure to have proof of your relationship.
The immediate relatives of qualifying visa holders (father, mother, siblings) are also eligible for the offer, if they travel together on the same booking.
If you are travelling with your child, you can reserve his or her ticket at the same time as yours. However, he or she would not be eligible for the special offer by Air Transat and pvtistes.net.
This special offer applies to flights from Europe to Canada and flights from Canada to Europe.
It can be used as many times as you wish during the validity of your IEC or study permit.
Choose between two fare options
If you buy an ECO BUDGET ticket (no checked luggage included), this special offer will allow you to add ONE PIECE OF CHECKED LUGGAGE at no extra charge.
Travelling with two pieces of luggage? No worries, you can add a second piece of checked luggage at a later date for a fee and fly with up to two pieces of checked luggage in total (23 kg max each).
If you buy an ECO STANDARD ticket, a piece of checked luggage is already included in the price. This special offer will allow you to add another piece of checked luggage at no extra charge, so you’ll be able to travel with TWO PIECES OF CHECKED LUGGAGE in total (23 kg max each).

The (not so) fine print for the Air Transat offer
- Maximum allowance per passenger is two pieces of checked luggage, 23 kg each. Adding a third piece of luggage is not possible with these fares.
- Maximum weight for each piece of checked luggage is 23 kg. Height + width + length must not exceed 158 cm (62 in).
- Each passenger is entitled to board with one piece of hand luggage and one personal item which are both subject to size restrictions. Maximum dimensions for your carry-on are 23 × 40 × 51 cm (9 × 16 × 20 in). Read Air Transat’s baggage allowance for more details.
- Special items (e.g. sporting equipment, music instruments) are not included in this special offer.
- The offer can’t be applied to transport of pets in the checked baggage hold. However, you can apply it to a regular piece of checked luggage and pay a separate fee to travel with your pet. For more info, read Pets and assistance dogs.
- Seat selection and gourmet meals are available with this special offer.
- Please note that this offer cannot be applied to codeshare flights (where one of the flight segments is operated by another airline partner), to "connectair by Air Transat" flights or to routes involving a train "Train + Air" segment. This offer cannot be combined with any other promotion or promo code.

Hello, the offer is not valid when you take a ticket including 2 checked baggage. To be careful because I got caught. I wanted to travel with 3 suitcases so I bought a more expensive ticket with 2 suitcases included except that my request was refused because I already had 2 suitcases included in my ticket !!! Amount of the 3rd suitcase by Air-transat: 160 € … yes, it stings !!!! To know, I would have taken 1 cheaper ticket with 1 suitcase + free luggage …

I’m sorry for you but it was easy for you to know it and not to make this mistake.
If you had read this page, you would have seen that the good plan allows you to leave with a maximum of 2 checked bags in total. No addition of option or supplement authorized (only the selection of the non-optional seat is accepted).
It is noted in the intro and in the FAQ / frequently asked questions.
You remain eligible for the right plan throughout the validity period of your license. Without limit number of participations. Looking forward to sharing it with you in the future.

Sorry but I can read and reread the explanations, I can’t find the place where the information is specified.
I did not read the FAQ before because I had no doubts before taking my ticket and I was convinced that I was concerned by the offer. I thought we should read the FAQ only when we had questions … which was not my case because the explanations were clear.

It is complicated for Air Transat to have too many passengers with 3 pieces of luggage so if they authorized PVTists to have 3 pieces of luggage, the right plan could no longer exist.
For Mathieu’s remark, I admit that we are trying to make our good plans as clear as possible so that you are all satisfied, so it is a little tricky for us to read that you have been “tricked” . In any case you can take advantage of the offer when you return 🙂
Did you take the plus option or did you add luggage to your flight? We would also like to take three pieces of luggage per person
Very good airline, no complaints! On departure from Paris, the flight went well, individual screens, meal no good either, but correct. Regarding luggage, respect the 23kg distributed in suitcases or bags, otherwise you will have to open your suitcase at the airport to rebalance your 46kg. Once in Canada, customs clearance can be long, don’t worry about your luggage, Air Transat is used to it and takes care of putting it aside.

Excellent plan. Everything is settled and pre-registered upon arriving at the airport. It is even confusing. No baggage fees for my part. Checked baggage 23 kg + 10 kg in handy cabin to start a new adventure!

Very good plan, no additional steps at the airport, everything was already pre-registered with Air transat. I didn’t even have to show the correct one, everything was done automatically, I was able to take advantage of the free luggage without worry, thank you!

I was lucky to benefit from this advantage. When you leave for an indefinite period this offer is not negligible. When we receive an agreement received 15 days before my departure, we save 60 € all the same. Even on site I had 2kg more I paid nothing. Then as regards Air Transat on board the plane let’s say that they have things to review but hey it goes. Thank you to the PVT site for the partnerships.

Very grateful for this offer which allowed me to bring 23kg of additional material free of charge (not negligible, especially when you are a teacher with a lot of educational material and books) !!! I was already planning to travel with AirTransat, which I was very satisfied with on my first trip, so it was really good! Having taken my tickets about a week / ten days only before my departure, I was afraid that the deadlines would be too tight for my request to be validated but it was done super quickly! The process could not have been more simple and clear, and I did not even have to show proof at the airport, I checked in at an automatic terminal and the second baggage was associated with my ticket from the same way as the first. Really great !
It is also reassuring to know that I will be able to benefit from it when I return.

Simple and efficient! I asked for my coupon when I booked the ticket. I was a little stressed not receiving an email a few days before my departure confirming that I had the right to an additional baggage … But the coupon was already made on my pvtistes account! Then it was really simple! The coupon was never asked me at the airport because the two pieces of luggage were already available at my online check-in (authorization of two pieces of baggage of 23kilos). Nothing could be simpler!
And yes, nothing too rocky here. Only goblins busy to make everything roll / fly. 🙂

When you show up at the Air Transat counter, the agent quickly sees whether the baggage bonus is pre-added to your reservation or not. If you still respect the conditions of participation, the coupon is not systematically requested. The agent validates the bonus without you having to present it. As you wrote: simple, fast and efficient.
