EnglishAir Transat and pvtistes.net has teamed up for a special offer applicable on flights to and from Canada—an extra 23 kg luggage allowance at no charge.
In other words, Air Transat will carry a piece of checked luggage at no cost. Note that you won’t get a refund on any luggage fees charged, this offer only gives eligible passengers the opportunity to travel with an extra piece of luggage at no additional cost.
You can take advantage of this special offer as many times as you wish for the entire duration of your study or work permit.
Who can benefit from this special offer on Air Transat flights?
To be eligible, passengers must hold one of the following:
- An International Experience Canada (IEC) permit (Working Holiday, Young Professionals or International Co-op permit); or
- A study permit.
- A valid employer-specific work permit.
- A valid spousal work permit.
If you are traveling with your spouse, who does not yet have a work permit, they are also eligible for the offer, provided that they are traveling on the same dates as you and that the tickets are purchased in the same booking. On the day of your trip, make sure to have proof of your relationship.
The immediate relatives of qualifying visa holders (father, mother, siblings) are also eligible for the offer, if they travel together on the same booking.
If you are travelling with your child, you can reserve his or her ticket at the same time as yours. However, he or she would not be eligible for the special offer by Air Transat and pvtistes.net.
This special offer applies to flights from Europe to Canada and flights from Canada to Europe.
It can be used as many times as you wish during the validity of your IEC or study permit.
Choose between two fare options
If you buy an ECO BUDGET ticket (no checked luggage included), this special offer will allow you to add ONE PIECE OF CHECKED LUGGAGE at no extra charge.
Travelling with two pieces of luggage? No worries, you can add a second piece of checked luggage at a later date for a fee and fly with up to two pieces of checked luggage in total (23 kg max each).
If you buy an ECO STANDARD ticket, a piece of checked luggage is already included in the price. This special offer will allow you to add another piece of checked luggage at no extra charge, so you’ll be able to travel with TWO PIECES OF CHECKED LUGGAGE in total (23 kg max each).

The (not so) fine print for the Air Transat offer
- Maximum allowance per passenger is two pieces of checked luggage, 23 kg each. Adding a third piece of luggage is not possible with these fares.
- Maximum weight for each piece of checked luggage is 23 kg. Height + width + length must not exceed 158 cm (62 in).
- Each passenger is entitled to board with one piece of hand luggage and one personal item which are both subject to size restrictions. Maximum dimensions for your carry-on are 23 × 40 × 51 cm (9 × 16 × 20 in). Read Air Transat’s baggage allowance for more details.
- Special items (e.g. sporting equipment, music instruments) are not included in this special offer.
- The offer can’t be applied to transport of pets in the checked baggage hold. However, you can apply it to a regular piece of checked luggage and pay a separate fee to travel with your pet. For more info, read Pets and assistance dogs.
- Seat selection and gourmet meals are available with this special offer.
- Please note that this offer cannot be applied to codeshare flights (where one of the flight segments is operated by another airline partner), to "connectair by Air Transat" flights or to routes involving a train "Train + Air" segment. This offer cannot be combined with any other promotion or promo code.

An additional 17 kg was not too much to come to Canada.

Good plan used for our PVT. We left with our 11 month old baby, the extra pounds were therefore more than necessary 🙂

Can I take a single 40 kg suitcase?
No, each piece of luggage must weigh a maximum of 32 kilos. If you opt for 40 kg of luggage, you will therefore have to leave with two suitcases or backpacks.

I used this good plan for my departure flight Lyon -> Montreal with my partner (pvtiste also). We were therefore able to take 40 kg each which allowed us to settle down with all our things!
This good plan is really very practical!

So when I click on the blue button, I then choose “Depart from France”.
I arrive on the Air Transat France page, where I enter the Paris-Montreal route, on March 2, 2015.
When I click on “Display flights”, I can read that the flights available in March are to be booked on the Canadian Air Transat website, and I am redirected to this page. And to register I cannot therefore create my account by entering my address.

I think I have a little trouble to book this good plan because by clicking on the big link in BLUE and indicating that I will leave from France … We are informed that reservations before April 1 from these cities cannot be performed and you must be redirected to the Airtrancat.ca site …
But going through this site I cannot put my address in France except the addresses in Canada and the USA.
What should I do to take advantage of this good plan please …. HELP
