If you want to eat exactly the same products as you’d find in your home country, you’ll need to prepare for your bills to be high.
For travellers who want to limit their food budget, you’ll find tips on how to find what you’re looking for at low prices in Chapter 9.
We recommend that you visit supermarket websites to get a rough estimate of food prices. Please note that prices are often lower in local markets and that the prices quoted online do not always take account of promotions and/or loyalty card discounts. The main supermarkets in New Zealand are Pak’nSave (cheapest), Woolworths (formerly Countdown, average prices), and New World (most expensive).
