Hello,

the offer is still valid.
You can connect via the following link https://pvtistes.net/bonsplans/banque-quebec-desjardins/
If the problem persists, I invite you to try via another interface (Chrome, Firefox, Edge…)

Hello, I would like to know in detail the difference between the free Desjardins current account offer (2 years) and that of the BNC which is 3 years so that I can make my choice. Additionally, I wanted to know if you have an agency in Alma (Quebec).
thanks in advance

Hello,

You will find all the details of our offer on https://pvtistes.net/bonsplans/banque-quebec-desjardins/
Also, you can check on https://www.desjardins.com/localisateur to find us 😉
We have cash registers and ATMs in Alma.
Good luck in Canada

Good morning,
When opening an account I am asked if I am resident for tax purposes in Canada so I check yes but what about the question for the purposes of a country other than Canada?
I arrived in Canada in November and will therefore only be a Canadian resident for the next taxes.
My friend has the same question with the same dates but he has real estate in France which will make him declare taxes in France. Should he check yes to 2 and me yes to only Canada?
thank you for your reply

Good morning,

If you arrived in November, you had to file a tax return in 2024. If this is the case, then you must answer yes to the question, the same for your spouse. (do not check both)
Concerning this, in Canada it is obligatory to make the double declaration (declare the goods in France) but, I reassure you, there is no double taxation.
I invite you to contact a tax professional to help you with your efforts if necessary.
Good day.

Good morning ! I have two questions that come to mind:

– I am staying in Montreal for 4 months, but I need to open an account for my employer. Is cancellation free of charge? I don’t see any info

– Concerning residence in Canada, as I am staying 4 months, I only have Airbnb accommodation. So it’s not in my name. Am I still required to include this address?

Thank you for your time !

Hello Yasmina,
All accounts closed after 90 days of use can be canceled without charge (Less than 90 days after opening is $20).
To open an account in Canada, you must provide a Canadian address (personal, hotel, Airbnb, friends, family… make sure you receive your statement by email 🙂
Good luck in Canada!

Hello, I will soon open my bank account and I wonder if we could send funds several times before our arrival?

Hello Tristan,
Once the pre-opening request has been made, you have the right to a single transfer before your finalization in Canada.

Good morning,
I wanted to know if the transfer of money from a French account to a Desjardins account is free of charge and if not, to what extent are there any fees on the transfer?
THANKS,
Agnes

Hello Agnes,
To transfer your funds from an account in your home country to the Desjardins account, the costs of this transfer are:
 on issue: to be checked with the bank in your country of origin
 exchange rate: check with the bank of your country of origin
 upon receipt: 15 CAD by Desjardins, regardless of the amount

In order to optimize transfer costs, we strongly suggest that you
• transfer funds in Canadian dollars directly
• prefer less frequent transfers

Hello, I sent an email to [email protected] 10 days ago and I did not receive a response. I also tried the chat on this page but had no news via email. I just had a few questions before my departure (which is in a week) regarding the pre-opening of a Desjardins account. Could someone from Desjardins please contact me? Thank you in advance and good day 🙂

Very well, the opening is done quickly and the various advisers are always quick to help you when you have a doubt or a question about a procedure.
So far I’m very happy with it (account opening + fast receipt of debit and credit cards).
