It is almost time to start your adventure in New Zealand! You’ve got your working holiday visa, your savings put aside, your insurance subscription, your flight booked and your bag packed, there are just a few small steps left before you’re ready to begin your adventure!
Before going through immigration, you have to fill in your New Zealand Traveller Declaration. This form lets you to tell the New Zealand authorities whether you have products to declare, if you have been hiking recently (or if you are bringing hiking equipment), or if you have been in contact with farm animals. You will also need to declare if you have spent any time in a particular country. These questions may seem trivial, but they help ensure New Zealand’s biosecurity.
Since July 2023, you must complete the form online or on the app within 24 hours of arrival in the country. The procedure should not take more than 10 minutes. We will show you how to fill in your New Zealand Traveller Declaration in this tutorial.
Before we start, make sure you have the following information handy:
- your passport, contact details and details of your flight or sea voyage,
- your immigration status (= your visa),
- details of your trip, including recent layovers,
- items you are bringing to New Zealand.
