How to get a Working Holiday Visa to France (for all nationalities)

All applicants must make an in-person appointment. The purpose of this is to submit your application and to have your biometrics (photo and fingerprints) collected.

Appointments in Australia or Canada

In Australia and Canada, appointments are with VFS Global. VFS Global is a private third-party service provider that manages visa related administrative tasks for consulates and embassies of certain countries. Though they collect Working Holiday Visa applications and biometric data on behalf of the French government, applications are still transferred to the French consulate for processing.

Note that while Canadians and Australians are exempt from paying any visa fees to the consulate, VFS Global does charge a service fee.

To make an appointment

• In Canada, follow these steps.
• In Australia, go to the VFS France-Australia website.

Since demand for appointments is high and supply is low, there is a good chance that there will be no availability at the moment you try to book an appointment. It may take you a few days or weeks to secure an appointment. Patience and persistence are key. You can try to contact the VFS customer service but it is unlikely that they can do anything for you. Check back every day: once in the morning and once at night. VFS Global’s appointment release schedule is unpredictable, despite what their customer service might tell you.

Finalizing your France-Visas application

After booking your appointment with VFS Global, remember to finalize your application on France-Visas.

Check the box to confirm that you did make an appointment with a VFS Global centre and that a date has been scheduled. Click “Submit to the visa center”.

Congratulations, you’re all done with your online application! Print and sign your application. Continue to chapter 5.

Appointments outside of Australia and Canada

Your appointment will take place at the French consulate or embassy of your jurisdiction. To make an appointment, follow the instructions provided to you in the France-Visas portal at the end of your online application. You can also consult the France WHV consular website for your country of application.

After booking your appointment, double check that your application is fully completed and submitted on France-Visas. Print and sign your application.
