Hello,

I should arrive in Montreal in August, I will be a clinical nurse. Can I benefit from the offers planned for healthcare workers and open my account online before my arrival?

Hello,

I am a Canadian Citizen currently residing in Pakistan.

I plan on arriving in Canada in a few months and was wondering if it would be possible for me to open an account prior to my arrival using this offer.

Regards,

Hello Zamam, thanks for your message! Please note that Canadian citizens are not eligible for this offer. You can view the other accounts we offer by visiting www.nbc.ca/account.

Hello,
I have just arrived in Toronto and I would like to take advantage of your offer for newcomers with a temporary work permit (PVT).
I had a few questions just to confirm:
- opening an account in your bank allows me to have a bank account in Canada free of charge for three years? $ 50 offered on my account when opening? + debit and credit card?
- must the first transfer be made from bank to bank? Isn't an intermediary like Transfermate possible?
- Do you have staff who speak French in your Toronto branch?

Thank you in advance for your return

Hello, I am leaving on April 13, 2020 and we are currently on March 05, 2020.
Is it too late to open my online account and transfer money before I leave?
Thank you.

Absolutely not Julien :) You have up to five years after your arrival to take advantage of the offer. There is still time to transfer money.

Hello Pauline! The first transfer must be made from one bank to another. So, you will have to make the transfer from your financial institution. I'm here if you have any other questions for us. :)

Hello,

I would like to know if the credit card can be directly linked to our current account and if the amount spent can be withdrawn automatically every month as proposed by desjardins bank. Thank you

Good evening, when I go to open my account online from France, the money that I will transfer is in a passbook. Does this pose any problem? How long is the transfer made?

Hello Francois! I suggest that you check with your bank for the transfer to be made from your Livret A rather than a transaction account. For the deadline, it is usually 72 working hours for receipt. -Mast

Hello,
My first transfer (from France) has just been refused, for the following reason: "account frozen".
Indeed, my account is not yet validated but it is registered here that I can make "a first transfer before my departure" ... My appointment for the formal opening of my account being already taken in Vancouver (this Friday 21 / 02) how to make this 1st transfer as quickly as possible by then? Hoping, for my part, not to have to pay more fees with my issuing French bank following this rejection ...

Hello Anne, thank you for your message! Your first transfer must be made through your issuing bank directly, without going through a third-party application. If this is what you have already done, contact us in private and we will do more checks for you! -Mast

Hello,

I know that when renting a car, for example at Hertz, with a Desjardins credit card, insurance is also included (to insure the rental car). Is this also the case with the BNC card, especially during the 1st year with your offer?

Thank you !

In fact, it depends on the card you have. Our travel cards, Platinum, World and World Elite cards, offer this coverage, and are available as part of the program! - Alex

Hello, I was making my request to open an account with the BNC but I don't know what to answer for the question of tax residence (as understood for taxes). Should I put Canada or France? I just arrived with a 2 year old PVT.
Thank you in advance for enlightening me :)

Hello Alex,
Thank you for the answer. I would have opened my account in an agency directly, but does the $ 50 gift work if opening in an agency (probably in Oakville), I understand that not. How to get it (do you have a letter in English that I can show). I don't want to bother with this.
thank you,
Aurelie
