Useful Organizations
CRIJ Rhône-Alpes (tramway Ste Blandine, Confluence neighbourhood) is the local branch of the Centre Régional d’information Jeunesse, a nation-wide association with the mandate to provide information and advice to teenagers and young adults. It regularly hosts themed events, especially at the beginning of the school year (August-September)—café coloc’ (to meet potential roommates), café emploi (to network and find a job), etc. The CRIJ also has a list of organizations hosting meetup events for newcomers and works together with other associations offering opportunities to new residents.
Branches of the MJC (national association of youth clubs) are also a good place to sign up for affordable (and subsidized) sports and cultural activities. Note that there can be a waiting list for the most popular ones!
