Why should I go to a small town in Quebec?
- You will meet fewer backpackers. Yes, there are also fewer job offers but less competition than in Montreal or Toronto.
- You will enjoy a unique opportunity to fully immerse yourself in Quebec culture. Outside Montreal, the province isn’t very cosmopolitan yet so you will get to live like locals… because that’s the only way of life!
- Most of the small cities have a relaxed, friendly atmosphere without all the stress and urban annoyances of Montreal or Toronto.
- Housing prices and the overall cost of living are lower than elsewhere.
Just keep in mind that…
- These cities are quieter, which also means there are fewer cultural events and activities. On the plus side, you can enjoy easy access to nature!
- Making friends and meeting new people may be harder.
- The further north you go, the colder and longer winters are.
